Chocolate Cake

2 ounces of chocolate
1 ¾ cups ” flour
½ ” ” milk
½ ” ” butter
1 ½ ” ” sugar
4 eggs
1 teaspoonful of vanilla
heaping teaspoonful baking powder. Dissolve the chocolate in five tablespoonfuls boiling water.

Bake in moderate oven.

Beat the butter to cream, add gradually the sugar, beating all the time. Add the yolks, beat again. Then the milk + melted not hot chocolate + flour. Give the whole a vigorous beating. Now beat the whites to a stiff froth + stir them carefully into the mixture. Add the vanilla + baking powder. Mix quickly + lightly.
