Date and Nut Cake

4 eggs beaten separately
1 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup flour
1 tsp. Baking powder (rounded)
½ tsp. Salt
1 lb. California dates seeded
¼ lb. candied cherries
1 ½ lb. English walnuts

Bake 1 hr. Loaf pan, oven 325°

Cream yolks of eggs + sugar
Sift flour, baking powder, salt
Add vanilla
“ Sifted ingredients
“ egg whites
“ dates and nuts

Miss Powell does instant dates or nuts.
(I broke up the nuts.)

Do not cut it until you want to serve it, then slice it thin.
