½ cup – butter (¼ lb)
1 ½ “ – sugar
4 eggs separated
2 oz (2sq.) Baker’s chocolate dissolved in 5 tablesp. of boiling water
½ cup – milk
1 ¾ “ – flour
2 teasp. baking powder (Royal)
1 teasp. Vanilla
Cream butter + sugar. Add egg yolks and beat ? light. Add chocolate. Add alternately the milk + the flour. Add baking powder. Then the vanilla. Fold in the beaten egg whites. (Beat till it stands in points.) Bake in a moderate oven (350°)
Save the egg whites for icing.
Seven minute icing. Save whites unbeaten. ¾ cup sugar. 2 ½ tablesp. water. ¾ tsp white corn syrup
