Apple Torte

1 c sugar
¼ c shortening
1 egg
1 tsp. soda (scant)
½ tsp. baking powder
1 tsp allspice
½ tsp salt
1 cup flour plus 2 Tbsp
½ c nuts
2 c diced apples
Bake at 300 deg. For 30 to 35 minutes
Serve with whipped cream.
