
2 cups flour
2 teasp. baking powder
⅓ cup shortening
½ teasp. salt
2 tablesp. sugar
½ cup milk
5 tart apples
Work in shortening and add milk.
Roll dough to ½ thickness ⅛ in. thick and cut in five squares to cover apples.
Moisten edges 6 ½ inch squares
Syrup for cooking dumplings
½ cup butter
1 cup sugar
2 “ water
Boil until thick. over
Bake 35 25 min at 375° 475°

Fill centers of apples ? sugar + cinnamon
When wrapped make several gashes in top of each.
